Why WALK?
Keep walking! Walking not only helps you get more exercise, it also helps you maintain a low-carbon lifestyle easily.
In our daily life, walking is an aerobic exercise which you can do anytime, anywhere. Generally, walking around 8,000 to 10,000 steps every day helps lower the risk of sickness. Additionally, muscles of the lower body degenerate faster than the upper part. Walking combats this by strengthening our leg muscles and our back muscles. In other words, walking makes you healthier.
Carbon emissions can be reduced if you walk instead of taking short-distance vehicles. An average person walks 4,000-6,000 steps a day. If you walk 8,000 steps every day, you can reduce 0.6 tons of CO2 emissions in just one year.
WGO would like to promote Hong Kong as a “Walkable City” and encourage Hong Kong people to make walking a habit. This way we can contribute and ensure sustainable development of our society.
